The ideal candidate should have: * 2+ years experience in the trouble shooting and repair of lawn and garden and commercial equipment. * Computer literate. * Their own tools. Job Summary The Lawn & Garden Service Technician under the direction of the Service Manager repairs and reconditions customer’s equipment and equipment for resale by the dealership. They also complete manufacturer warranty and product improvement repairs. Additional duties include pre-delivering/set-up of new equipment. The Service Technician also maintains and operates service department machine tools, special tools and equipment as required. They also may be required to perform field service. The Service Technician produces the primary product that the Service Department has to market -TIME. This requires that they are well trained, possess good people skills (since they often work directly with customers), keep very detailed information on jobs performed and maintain a clean well managed work area. They also at times may supervise a Trainee or Co-op student. Duties and Responsibilities Proficient in the disassembly, assembly, and repair of components and machines. Proficient in diagnostic skills on equipment. Able to use diagnostic test equipment and special tools. Performs basic testing on all equipment systems. Perform diagnosis and repair in the field as required. Performs all service tasks as assigned by the Service Manager . Reports any additional work required for the proper and safe operation of the machine to the Service Manager . Participates in Service Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge. May train others in job skills. Completes time cards and technician sheets on time. Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly manner. Maintains and cares for Department tools, equipment and vehicles. Conducts self in the presence of customers so as to present a professional image of the dealership. Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments. Observes all safety procedures. Maintains a high level of billable hours. Looks up parts needed for repair job. Uses Service Advisor and D-tac for technical information. Complies with all Company requirements as put forward in the Procedural Manual and Employee Handbook. *Two year technical or trade school degree or equivalent work experience. Computer literate. Honesty integrity and a strong desire to succeed. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to create and maintain cooperative team building relationships. Ability to deal tactfully with human issues in colleagues and customers.
