OBJECTIVE:
Ensure the stability and growth of the Agency by substantially increasing financial support for Volunteers of America and broadening community awareness of our programs and services throughout New York State.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Implement successful fundraising strategies and secure financial gifts, resulting in a significant increase in new contributions from individuals, corporate contributions and/or foundations.
* Actively research, cultivate, and solicit prospects for financial gifts with a focus on engaging new supporters.
* Secure financial support for the agency and meet annual goals for financial contributions.
* Work with SVP of Advancement and the CEO to recognize donors
* Generate financial support via an effective array of development tactics, including major gifts, planned giving, sponsorships, direct mail, annual appeals, and cause:related marketing.
* Engage the support of Board members in development efforts and ensure 100 giving from the Board of Directors.
* Formulate and implement both internal and external marketing/PR plans to effectively publicize VOAs programs, donation opportunities, special events, and volunteer opportunities, resulting in increased financial support for the agency.
* Develop and execute effective media strategies and track results to demonstrate an increase in positive awareness and perception of the agency.
* Identify and secure collaborative opportunities (including inkind donations) to support Agency initiatives.
* Act as agency spokesperson as necessary.
* Conduct speaking engagements outside the agency at civic groups, churches, etc.
* Develop and write case statements and other development materials as necessary.
* Handle other development, media and marketing responsibilities as assigned.
* Provide support to the SVP of Agency Advancement and CEO as required.
EDUCATION/SKILL SET:
* Bachelors degree in marketing, management or related field.
* Minimum 3 years progressive experience in development or related field with demonstrated results. Working knowledge of annual giving, capital campaigns, major gifts,
foundation/corporate solicitations, planned giving, marketing, direct mail and/or special events.
* Proven communication skills with the ability to reach targeted audiences through multiple avenues.
* Organized, detail oriented, able to multitask, keeping deadlines and consistently follows through.
* Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Office, Excel, and proficiency with donor databases.
* Self:motivated, able to work in a team and independently.
* Flexibility required : weekend work required for special events. Travel as needed.
* Clean New York State drivers license and able to drive, as needed.
